The United Brotherhood of Carpenters is holding a worker information and member support meeting for workers at Come By Chance following Friday’s fire that sent eight people to the hospital. All members and their families affected by the incident are encouraged to go from the union hall at 89 McNamara Drive in Paradise, starting at 1:00 p.m. today. Members are encouraged to ask questions and information will be provided for those seeking supportive counseling. The Atlantic Canada Regional Council is also hosting a province-wide growth meeting scheduled for Wednesday. Meanwhile, the United Steelworkers union has emergency response teams stationed on site at the Come By Chance refinery. Union spokesman Ron Thomas says the offices are open to all workers and family members who need someone to talk to about the incident.
