UPDATE: 10:50 a.m The Department for the Environment and Climate Change Strategy says the Smoky Skies Bulletin last updated on September 4 has expired. Smoke concentrations from the fire have decreased over the past 24 hours. Environment Canada predicts smoke will return to the Central Okanagan on Tuesday. ORIGINAL: 4 A.M Hot weather will sweep across the Okanagan this week, along with smoke from wildfires. Environment Canada says temperatures will range slightly above the seasonal average. Monday will be the only day of the week with a smoke break. “With a system moving into southern interior BC it looks like there should be an improving trend by Monday. Unfortunately Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday we have mostly calm conditions and that’s with a ridge of high pressure building over the area , so there will be.” No moderate wind to disperse the smoke from areas adjacent to the Okanagan Valley,” said meteorologist Nan Lu. Labor Day on Monday will have a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and sunshine. Tuesday will also see 25C with sun. Smoky conditions are possible throughout the day. On Wednesday the temperature will reach 27 degrees Celsius with sunshine and possible smoke. On Thursday, Friday and Saturday it will be sunny with a high temperature of 25 degrees Celsius.
