The dark red Mustang was located and the investigation determined that it was not involved in the firearms discharge incident. The scope of this investigation has changed and the alert is now focused on Lake Witchekan First Nation and the surrounding area as defined in the warning system. The map is here: Investigators have identified two male suspects and are actively seeking to locate them. Kelly Witchekan is 22 years old. He has brown hair and eyes and is 5’9″ and 140 lbs. Melvin Starblanket is 33 years old. He has black hair and brown eyes and is 5’9″ and 160 lbs. Both have connections to the Witchekan Lake First Nation. Photos are attached. Spiritwood RCMP are continuing to investigate. Further emergency alerts will be sent to areas where a risk to public safety is identified, if required. There will be a continued increased police presence in Witchekan Lake First Nation and surrounding areas. Research updates will be provided when available. At this time, this is not believed to be connected to the James Smith Cree Nation investigation. Residents in Witchekan Lake First Nation should continue to take appropriate precautions.
