And the flamboyant star – famous for donning superhero masks to celebrate goals – is unlikely to be put off. Boss Tuchel reckons the former Arsenal captain is desperate to “prove a point” even if he has to wear the high-tech face covering. Tuchel said: “He has taken care of his recovery. We were able to bring everyone to do our last training session here in Zagreb. “He did a test with the mask, trained normally and so if everything goes well he will be available. “He is very ambitious, very focused and hungry to play for us and prove a point. “We felt that from the first moment and he is happy to be called upon to prove something tomorrow.” Aubameyang’s debut could come just four days after his £12m signing from Barcelona on transfer deadline day last week. He can’t play 90 minutes, so it’s up to us to decide how to manage the minutes. “He needs minutes to get fully fit, that’s for sure, so it’s up to us to find a solution if he comes off the bench or if he starts.” New colleague Denis Zakaria is also in the squad for the Group E match as Europe’s elite get underway. Goalkeeper Edward Mendy has made a full recovery since Saturday when he was accused of faking the injury to cover up a mistake by angry West Ham manager David Moyes. Tuchel is more interested in improving his team’s performances but is bolstered by Chelsea’s England defender Rhys James signing a new five-year contract.
