A large scene was filmed overnight and into Monday morning following a shooting at the Sahara Mediterranean restaurant in the north Edmonton neighbourhood. Global News was told that a famous Lebanese singer was performing at the restaurant, whose social media reported that singer Wadih El Cheikh was performing. A shooting occurred at the Sahara Mediterranean Restaurant in northwest Edmonton on Monday, September 5, 2022. World News Residents said they heard gunshots around 12:30 a.m. Monday. Edmonton police confirmed officers were responding to a call of shots fired at that time. Story continues below ad “I heard so many shots and it scared me and I heard a lot of people screaming,” said Noor Alsmaial, who lives nearby.

Police told Global News that multiple shots were fired inside and outside the restaurant. A 25-year-old man was shot and taken to hospital, where he remains in stable condition. Trending Stories

The suspect took off before police arrived. “I feel worried about my children. Especially since it’s very, very close to my neighbors,” said another local resident, Mimi Chu. “My sister told me to close all the curtains and blinds and so I did. And half an hour later I looked out and saw all the police cars are all blocked.” Both uniformed and undercover officers were on the scene Monday morning, going in and out of the restaurant and searching the parking lot.
