Memphis Police Department via AP Fletcher, who comes from a pedigree Tennessee family that founded a $3.2 billion private hardware company, was reportedly abducted from Abston around 4:30 a.m. of Friday. Tennessee authorities obtained surveillance footage of the kidnapping that appeared to show Abston running “aggressively toward the victim and then [forcing] victim Eliza Fletcher on the passenger side of the vehicle,” according to a police affidavit that also said, “there appeared to be a struggle.” Police described Fletcher’s abduction as “violent” and said she was believed to have “suffered serious injury”. “Furthermore, it is probable and apparent from witness statements that these injuries left traces of blood on the car that the defendant cleaned,” he continued. He was convicted when a good Samaritan found sandals at the crime scene with DNA linking him to the alleged kidnapping.
