Big White Ski Resort has had a busy mountain biking season thanks to the help of Mother Nature. Micheal J. Ballingall, Senior Vice President of Big White Ski Resort says it’s been a great summer. “When you look at the weather … it’s very difficult in the summer. We’ve only had a few lightning closures. We’ve been blessed with the weather. We’re very encouraged by the regularity of the weather. We’re continuing. We’ve had more hikers, we’ve had a lot more people looking for wildflowers, we’ve had a lot more people who just wanted to go up and enjoy the mountain atmosphere to get out of the heat of the valley,” he said. Big White traditionally closed the trails after Labor Day weekend, but has extended the season through Sunday, September 11. “We have an enduro race so next Saturday and Sunday people will be able to hike and access the lift,” Ballingall added. This is the fifth year the resort has offered mountain biking with lift access. Big White has been slowly expanding its summer offerings in recent years, including lift-access hiking and a disc golf course.
