Zaporizhzhia NPP one step away from radioactive disaster, Zelensky warns
Volodymyr Zelensky says the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant is on the brink of a “radioactive disaster” as he confirmed that the last power transmission line connecting the plant to Ukraine’s energy system has been damaged by further Russian bombing. “Again – this is the second time – due to Russian provocation, the Zaporizhzhia plant is one step away from a radioactive disaster,” Mr Zelensky said late on Monday. Calling Russia a “terrorist state”, Zelensky said that bombing the site of the nuclear power plant means that Russia does not care either what the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says or what the international community decides. Russia is only interested in maintaining the situation for as long as possible, Mr. Zelensky said.
