Police responded to the shooting of a man at 8:35 p.m. on Monday near the southeast corner of the fairgrounds, less than half an hour from the official end of the 2022 State Fair. A police spokesman had little other information about the shooting late Monday. The shootings come two days after a person was shot in the leg near the entrance to the Mighty Midway shortly after 10pm on Saturday. The shooting was preceded by groups of teenagers running and fighting in the previous hour. Crowds dispersed when the gunshot rang out and the fair closed early Saturday night. Police doubled their fair presence on Sunday.
