The high school Dr. Kelowna’s Knox will have significantly more room for students by fall 2024. On Tuesday, the provincial government announced $22.8 million in funding for a two-storey, 12-classroom addition to Glenmore Neighborhood School. The Central Okanagan School District will contribute an additional $500,000 to the project. Construction will begin in early 2023 with students housed in portables until construction is completed in 2024. Last year, the school was at 115 percent capacity. The addition will create 300 new positions and help ease enrollment pressures in the district. “We are pleased to see this investment in one of our key capital projects that will provide much needed classroom space for our growing student population,” said Moyra Baxter, president of the Central Okanagan Public Schools Board of Education. “As the fastest growing region in the country, we look forward to continued support of long-term facilities planning to ensure we have sustainable solutions to meet the needs of students and families in the Central Okanagan,” Baxter added.
