Regular officers were called to assist in apprehending a fugitive in the Shuswap with several warrants out for his arrest. Salmon Arm RCMP Staff Sgt. Scott West said on September 6th an officer located a man in the area of Trans Canada Highway, 30th St NE and 9th Ave NE who was known to have multiple warrants for his arrest. “The male fled from the patrol car and with the assistance of the general public, police were able to determine that the suspect was hiding at a residence on 8th Ave NE,” West said in a news release. The residence was cordoned off and the South East Regional Emergency Response Team attended to gain entry to the residence if needed. After about three hours, the man came out of the residence and turned himself in to police without incident. “The male was taken into custody on various warrants from the North Okanagan and Salmon Arm detachments,” West said. “One of those warrants involved a robbery in Ranchero where a shotgun was pointed at a victim.” The other warrants were for various offenses including breaking and entering, assault with a weapon, possession of stolen property, fleeing police and violating bail conditions. Ryan Charron, 32, is in police custody pending a bail hearing.
