THE CANADIAN PRESS/Graham Hughes Quebec’s anti-corruption unit says a former vaccination center employee has been charged with fabricating information used to create fake QR codes used for the province’s vaccination passport. Authorities say in a statement that the woman was working at a COVID-19 vaccination site in Quebec City when the alleged acts occurred in September 2021. The anti-corruption unit, known as UPAC, alleges the woman entered false information in the vaccine register about herself and others. Due to the false information, these individuals were able to receive QR codes certifying that they had been vaccinated against COVID-19. UPAC says the woman faces charges of breach of trust, producing false documents and fraudulent use of a computer. The police unit says the woman no longer works for the regional health authority that serves Quebec City.
