Chelsea plan to seek permission from Brighton & Hove Albion to speak to Potter’s manager and the club are aware there is a buy-out clause in his contract at the AMEX Stadium. It is Brighton’s policy not to stand in the way of such talks. Pochettino, 50, has been unemployed since being sacked by Paris Saint-Germain in July. He previously managed Chelsea’s London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. It is believed that Pochettino would be open to replacing Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge, as he did at Le Parc des Princes. Tuchel, 49, left Stamford Bridge just seven games into the season following Tuesday night’s 1-0 Champions League defeat by Dinamo Zagreb. Tuchel was appointed by Chelsea in January 2021 and made an immediate impact, winning the Champions League in his first season at the club.
