Footage from the ring from Sunday shows the 45-year-old woman walking casually down a tree-lined street in the Windy City’s Lakeview neighborhood when a dark sedan suddenly pulls up in the street. As she innocently continues walking, three hooded and masked men suddenly come out and grab her — at least one of whom is pointing a gun. The video captures the terrified screams of a Chicago woman being ambushed at gunpoint in a “safe” neighborhood. RingThe video began with the 45-year-old victim innocently walking down a tree-lined Lakeview street. The woman falls to the street and begins to scream in terror, her anguished screams continuing for the remaining 45 seconds of the clip. “What do you want?” she screams as the trio steals her items, stands over her and ignores her screams for over 15 seconds before they get back in the car and tear away. The three masked robbers ignored their victim’s screams as they robbed her before driving away in a waiting car. After they run away, the victim remains screaming on the ground for at least 10 seconds before finally getting back to their feet. “Help me! Help me!” she screams, while continuing to cry in terror. The crooks — at least one of whom was armed — stole her package containing her phone, wallet and keys, Chicago police told WGN9. Although three robbers were seen in the video, police were chasing four suspects, with one apparently the getaway driver. The theft comes as Chicago continues to be hit by rising gun crime. Even so, the brazen attack in broad daylight shocked neighbors in the area who had assumed they would be safe from such violence. “It’s scary! It’s noon and she was attacked,” resident Megan Hasse told NBC5 Chicago. Another, Bill Pollard, told WGN9 he “never expected anything like this on this kind of block” with “super great neighbors.” “You need a little bit of the glow of that bubble that you sometimes feel like you’re living in, right? You know, kids playing in the park, neighbors walking up and down the street,” Pollard told the local outlet. Now, he said, “instead of just walking, you might have to look over your shoulder every now and then.”
