Burdened with a particularly unwieldy name — The Nintendo Switch – OLED Model: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Edition — the OLED Switch launches on November 4th and retails for $359.99, doing the fancy job of Scarlet and Violet’s new legendaries, Miraida , Koraidon, an additional $1 value and from the regular off-white SWOLED. In addition to the new SWOLED, Nintendo also released a new trailer for ScarVi (my new name for the game I just made right now) that gives us even more details on what to expect from the game. The trailer revealed the “evil” Team Star – a group of student rebels who seem to live in their own autonomous zone, which is a hilarious bit of world-building when you realize that Paldea is partly based in Spain, a country that currently struggles with independence movements. Aside from the politics of Pokémon, the trailer also shows off another part of the story campaign, where your student helps a higher order find the mysterious Herba Mystica. You will need to enter the lairs of pokémon titans, which seems to mimic the pokémon alphas hunt of Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Finally, no Pokémon game would be complete without gym battles. Victory Road is where your students face off against talented gym leaders, some of which are designed to elicit maximum thirst. Not highlighted in the trailer but mentioned in the accompanying press release, ScarVi will also have a new gameplay feature called “Let’s Go.” According to the press release, a trainer can send a pokemon out to roam the wilds, collect items, and automatically battle any “mono” it encounters, which is great for grinding, but shiny hunters might they want to be careful. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet launches on November 18th on Nintendo Switch.
